Volterra is especially renowned for its peculiar urban layout that reminds us of its Etruscan origins: it is still possible to visit the majestic protective walls, including Porta dell'Arco and Porta Diana, which are still preserved today. The Acropolis also houses a number of buildings as well as the foundations of two ancient temples, and is adorned by several buildings.
