Tuscany is near Siena, Florence. Here you can visit charming villages, towns like San Casciano, the Duomo, in Florence, museums galleries, churches, and churches to experience the art and architecture from Renaissance Italy. Coming from the north, San Casciano is the first town you encounter in the Chianti region. It is a lovely medieval village perched on a hill. It's a real gem on the rolling hills covered with vines that characterize this region.
Within the first hairpin bends, you will find small fortifications, parish churches, and hamlets that invite you to explore Chianti. Originally owned by the Florentine Bishops since its foundation, San Casciano was annexed to the Republic of Florence in the 13th century and fortified to defend against Sienese threats. Towers and walls from the medieval era can still be seen around the town. Chianti is home to many world-famous vineyards and restaurants.
